Trauma Research Fellowship
The Orthopaedic Trauma Research Fellowship is a year-long fellowship program for outstanding medical students (or postdoctoral fellows) with research opportunities in clinical trials, outcome studies, anatomic and cadaveric studies.
Fellowship Objectives
-
To explore critical topics in orthopaedic research and orthopaedic traumatology.

To identify legal, ethical, and regulatory aspects of research.

To acquire basic knowledge of protocol development including literature searches, research design, statistical analysis, and interpretation of results.

To participate in an interdisciplinary research team and successfully implement studies.

To identify funding opportunities and develop grant writing skills.

To write up study results and review articles for publication, and to disseminate findings through poster and podium presentations.

Completion of

· HIPAA training
· EPIC training
· Scribe training
· Fluoroscopy training
Participation and training in regulatory aspects related to protocol development and implementation of drug and device studies.
Attendance of intensive seminar course in statistics offered by the School of Public Health
RESPONSIBILITIES
Participation in one or more
· research studies with each of the 4 orthopaedic trauma faculty with Dr. Shafiq as lead.

Implementation and management of a trauma research database
Creation and leadership of a trauma research team
Scheduling and Coordination of meetings
